Fire Resistance Test Equipments

We have experience in the construction of vertical and horizontal Furnace which are built for fire resistance tests . This may be under pressure or not, or a combination of both. The Furnaces are equipped with all the instruments necessary for the monitoring and also the acquisition and processing of data.

We have developed our own software for the automatic monitoring of Furnace parameters during tests with a base of a programmed curve and data measured by the various sensors and probes (temperature, pressure, oxygen, etc.)

We offer the most versatile Fire Resistance Testing Furnace for compliance testing to ISO 834-1, EN 1363-1, BS 476:20, ASTM E119, IS 3614:2021, IS 16947, IS 16945, IS 550 etc.

Our specialities includes fully automatic pressure control, multiple data acquisition systems Multi-purpose, easy to use, fast turnaround time & self operating rig system/ Overhead crane system.

2A. Vertical Fire Test Furnaces

A vertical fire resistance furnace is a specialized testing apparatus used to evaluate the fire resistance of construction materials and assemblies, such as walls, doors, and floors. This type of furnace simulates real-world fire conditions in a vertical orientation, which is particularly relevant for materials used in building facades and partitions. Commonly used to test materials like gypsum boards, steel frames, and fire-resistant coatings.

The GSI offers Full Scale Vertical/ Wall Fire Resistance Test Furnace that can be used to evaluate the fire resistance of building elements such as walls, doors, dampers.joints, penetration seals, etc. in a vertical orientation. Equipped with sensors and cameras, these furnaces can record temperature, structural integrity, and other performance metrics throughout the test.

In the upright furnace position, 6, g or (as per requirement) burners are installed on each of the left side and right side of the furnace wall.

Each burner is designed to use liquefied petroleum gas and all of the necessary flame safety systems, intermittent pilot systems, and temperature sensors are incorporated.

The vertical setup allows for more accurate testing of how materials behave under fire conditions in their intended applications. The furnace can maintain specific temperature profiles that mimic the conditions of a real fire, often following standardized testing protocols like those from ASTM or ISO.

Standard Furnace Chamber Sizes:
3m x 3m x 1.2m

4m x 3m x 1.2m
4m x 4m x 2.2m
5m X 4m x 1.2m

2B. Horizontal Fire Test Furnaces

A horizontal fire resistance furnace is another type of testing apparatus designed to evaluate the fire resistance of building materials and assemblies, typically in a horizontal orientation. This setup is particularly useful for testing floor systems, roofs, and other horizontal structural elements.

The GSI offers Full Scale Horizontal/ Floor Fire Resistance Test Furnace that can be used to evaluate the fire resistance of a horizontal construction assembly e.g. slabs, ceilings, beam, in a horizontal orientation.
This design allows for testing materials and assemblies as they would be installed in
real-world applications, such as floors or ceilings. The furnace can create and maintain specific fire conditions, including temperature profiles that replicate real fire scenarios, often adhering.

A horizontal fire resistance furnace used for a wide range of materials, including concrete slabs, composite floor systems, and insulation products.

Testing in horizontal fire resistance furnaces typically follows standards such as: ASTM E119, ISO 834 etc. These tests are essential for confirming the fire resistance of materials, contributing to the safety and resilience of buildings in the event of a fire.

Standard Furnace Chamber Sizes:
4m x 3m x 1.2m / 2m
4m x 4m x 1.2m / 2m
4m x 5m x 1.2m / 2m

2C. Tilted Type Fire Test Furnace

A tilted type fire resistance furnace is a specialized testing apparatus designed to assess the fire performance of materials and assemblies under angled conditions. This type of furnace is particularly useful for simulating scenarios where materials may experience fire exposure at non-vertical or non-horizontal angles, such as in sloped roofs or angled wall assemblies.

The Full Scale Hydraulic Tilting Type Fire Resistance Test Furnace is a dual purpose apparatus that can be used to conduct tests on walls, doors, dampers, joints, penetration seals , slabs, ceilings, beam, ventilation ducts, etc in a vertical or horizontal orientation or on a specific angle.

The unique angle allows for testing how materials perform when exposed to fire in
real-world applications where gravity and heat distribution may affect performance differently than in horizontal or vertical setups.

The furnace can maintain specific fire conditions, creating temperature profiles that adhere to standardized testing protocols.

Equipped with sensors, cameras, and data acquisition systems, it can monitor temperature, structural integrity, and other critical performance metrics throughout the test.

Standard Furnace Chamber Sizes:
4m x 3m x 1.2m

5m x 4m x 1.2m

2D. Indicative Fire Test Furnaces

Indicative fire test furnaces are designed to provide preliminary assessments of the fire resistance of materials and assemblies. Unlike standard fire resistance tests that adhere to rigorous protocols and conditions, indicative tests are typically less formal and aim to give an initial understanding of how a material might perform under fire exposure.

The Indicative Fire Resistance Test Furnace can be used to conduct tests on a small sample of material or assembly to withstand exposure to high temperatures according to international fire test methods.

Indicative tests can be conducted more quickly than full-scale fire resistance tests, making them useful for early-stage material evaluation. Often designed to allow for observation of material behaviour, such as smoke development, flame spread, or structural integrity during exposure to fire.

Standard Furnace Chamber Sizes:
1m x 1m x 1m
1.2m x 1.2 m x 1.2 m
1.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m
2m x 1.5m x 1.5m
