A Thermal Conductivity test apparatus for polymer products is used to measure the rate at which heat is transferred through a polymer material. Thermal conductivity is an essential property in determining how well a polymer can insulate or conduct heat, which is important for applications like packaging, electronics, construction, and automotive components. Polymers are typically poor conductors of heat compared to metals, so understanding their thermal conductivity helps in designing products with better thermal management.

Heat Flow Meter Method (ASTM E1530, ISO 8301):

Apparatus Components:

  • Heated Plate (Upper Plate): Provides heat to one side of the polymer sample.
  • Cool Plate (Lower Plate): Keeps the opposite side at a lower temperature.
  • Heat Flux Sensor: Measures the heat flow passing through the polymer specimen.
  • Sample Holder: Holds the polymer sample between the two plates, ensuring uniform contact.

Range:

  • 10⁰C to 60⁰C
  • 50 ⁰C to 250 ⁰C
